An ovum donor is a woman who donates her ova to use in
the conception of a child conceived through the process
of in-vitro fertilization.
Ovum recipients contact Melissa Brisman because a medical
reason has prevented the recipient from conceiving a
child with her own ova. The ovum recipient may be able
to carry a child but she does not produce healthy eggs.
In some situations, the ovum recipient will also need
to locate a gestational carrier. In either case, the
donor’s eggs will be fertilized outside of the body and the resulting
embryos placed in the female recipient or gestational carrier. Clients also include
gay male couples, single males and single females.
The law office of Melissa Brisman provides legal services
to ovum recipients. Our office can assist recipients
by referring them to various ovum donor agencies
in order to locate an ovum donor. Attorney Brisman drafts
the donor agreements once the recipients are matched
with an ovum donor. She
is acknowledged as a foremost expert in the legal implications
of such arrangements. Melissa and her husband also have
been personally touched by infertility and are parents
of twin boys and a daughter through a gestational carrier.
